Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 R2 Academic Edition Retail

Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio - professional package, which is a studio creation of applications for robotics. In the Robotics Studio are visual programming tools, as well as three-dimensional virtual environment with the physics engine to simulate the work of robots. The solution differs convenient programming model that supports asynchronous interaction between the individual components of finished systems. A set of visual tools for programming and simulation of systems together with examples of code and embedded electronic textbooks are a powerful platform for supporting development of the system. In the new version is implemented increase the speed of execution environment. With accelerated download services and the rapid exchange of messages between them achieved more efficient use of computing resources and performance of ready-made applications. Module visual programming robots behavior VPL provides comfortable writing distributed application components with flexible toolchain. The first version of Microsoft RDS was introduced in April 2008. Previously, developers are offered only two formal type of license - commercial and nonprofit. At the moment the product is divided into three editions: Standard - for professional programmers, Academic - for students and researchers, Express - for all other users of robotics. Simulation environment of the systems VSE (Visual Simulation Environment) supports the recording and playback of simulation experiments. The new editor plans for facilities at the VSE module facilitates the description of the media. Now, in a VSE can import schemes and models, created using computer-aided three-dimensional design of DS SolidWorks and three-dimensional modeling system, Microsoft trueSpace. Programming interface can be applied to robots using 8 and 16-bit processors, as well as 32-bit systems with multicore processors. Supported devices range from simple sensors to laser range finders. The development environment works in Windows CE, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Vista and Windows XP and allows you to create algorithms that in the future could be used by robots. In addition, the system built an unusual system of testing: Complex Robotic Studio is compatible with equipment iRobot's Roomba and Lego Mindstorms NXT, which can test the software development. Microsoft emphasizes that with the release of new versions of several changes the name of the product. Now the package will be called Robotics Developer Studio, instead of the previous title Robotics Studio. According to Microsoft, such a change would better reflect the fact that the product is aimed at developing applications. New developed in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University and the American center of innovations and robotics. Microsoft RDS 2008 is also now fully supports the work with two versions of a popular development environment Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and 2008. Enhanced support for execution of algorithms in the modules VPL and VSE in 64-bit versions of Windows extends the deployment of ready logic for robots. Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 (RDS) is a significant update to Microsoft Robotics Studio. This new version includes support for 64-bit operating systems, new samples showing how to use the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Silverlight, greatly improved documentation, enhanced Project Wizards, runtime optimizations, and many other new features. The simulated robot sumo competition is now included. Please see Tandy Trower's welcome letter and the What's New document. Collada Update for RDS 2008 Standard and Academic Editions Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio Standard and Academic Editions have the ability to import Collada models that have been exported from SolidWorks. These models can be used in the Visual Simulation Environment. This update improves compatibility with the Collada format. A new service is also provided that allows you to manipulate joints in Collada models when they are run in the simulator. The new Collada Update is now available for download. Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 is released. You can download the Express Edition at no cost, or purchase the Standard Edition. The Academic Edition can be obtained through MSDNAA. The release contains a number of exciting new features as well as many new samples and tutorials. For a complete list, please see What's New. CCR and DSS Toolkit 2008 Microsoft has announced the availability of the CCR and DSS Toolkit 2008. Originally part of the Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio (RDS), the CCR and DSS Toolkit can now be purchased as a separate product. The Toolkit is a set of high-performance class libraries that enable developers to write concurrent and distributed applications. CCR and DSS will still be distributed as part of RDS, but this new product enables the Toolkit to be licensed for non-robotic scenarios. Read more including Case Studies.
